Insomnia as a route to programming productivity?

I suffer from insomnia, in fact I'm suffering from insomnia right now, hence the subject of this brief pensée. So, the question is: Do a lot of Perlmonks suffer from insomnia and, if so, do they find that during such bouts that they can get lots of programming/work done?

Personally, I tend to find that I can get a hell of a lot done when I am a bit strung out: Today and tonight I did about 6 hours of electrochemistry revision (exam on thursday). This is actually quite well times as my knowlege of electrochemistry is currently quite limited but expanding rapidly, or at least it was until I logged onto PM! So the final question is this: Do you "suffer" from insomnia (and hence get lots of work done) when you most need it?

I have the occassional bout of insomnia, though less after cutting way back on caffiene and figuring out that B vitamins after 3pm were a no-no. I thought I was getting productive coding done late at night, but finally had to admit that much of my debugging time was going toward fixing those occasional late-night efforts. So when insomnia strikes now, I either pop a Melatonin, or catch up on surfing or light reading.

    ...

Later: Insomnia pays a visit, so it's off to the Monestary until the Melatonin kicks in.

This discussion came up a few weeks ago here. It seemed like answers were all across the board.

Damn. I searched under insomnia and got nothing (try it). Hey ho, guess I should have made a more exhausitive search.
