You could always use Yahoo! Finance's historical data query. Scroll to the bottom of the table for a link to download the data as comma-separated values. You may be interested in a couple Perl projects: BeanCounter can automate historical and ongoing data downloads, and it will save the data to a local database for faster ongoing analysis and backtesting. GeniusTrader is a framework for high-level technical analysis, including indicators and signals. It does backtesting and charting as well. It works with BeanCounter databases, among other things. Don't let the low version number fool you. It's been in development for years.
