This sort of thing is why I never, ever, provide true information to anyone I don't absolutely have to.

A throw-away Hotmail email, a unique username, no personal info in the profile, a false "real name", and a unique password. The worst anyone can do with the info is make rude posts to PM, which IPs will prove weren't me.

Once in a while someone will get on his high horse about the paranoia of anonymity - I have conclusive confirmation that my dismissal of them is warranted.
