And frankly, to me, putting such emphasis on those perceived connotations seems to be more of an attempt to detract from the main issue.
No, I don't want to distract from the main issue, in fact I have already agreed to comply the norms with regard to front-paging, see here Re^2: Way to un-frontpage nodes?

from my point of view, grouping us and putting the country name on it; was disappointing.
some wise monks could have messaged us to stop front-paging those nodes by enlightening us.
It is all fine, we have learnt when to front-page a node, we will learn from this mistake.

    I agree.  But let's move on and get back to enjoying Perl, which is what connects us all here...
