Way to un-frontpage nodes?

If the OP is good enough (however that is defined) on its own to be on front page, then who posts a reply first does not matter (even if the person who put the OP on front is same as who also replied first).	[reply]

I'm pretty sure these guys are reasonable men and we can just point them to the What nodes should/should not be FrontPaged? and ask to correct their behavior. I don't think it make sense to complicate things with the technical solution.	[reply]

I'm pretty sure these guys are reasonable men One would hope so, yes. But considering in particular ree's past behavior (I'm thinking of this weird reposting questions from stackoverflow.com thingie just a couple of weeks ago), I'm not all that sure... :)	[reply]

Actually, I draw the opposite conclusion from that information. If someone has previously "transgressed" and adjusted their behaviour when asked, then it's not unreasonable to hope that they will do the same thing the next time an issue is brought to their attention. I've noticed it, too, and I started reflexively downvoting them, only to stop myself and think again. Personally, I say we take away their XP and make them use Vista ... though that might be in violation of the Geneva Convention as cruel and unusual. Seriously, guys, if you're reading this, lighten up. XP means nothing. In the discussion associated with the thread suggested by my colleagues above is an argument by tye (and others) that most nodes that are approved should be front paged and that not nearly enough nodes are front paged. How exactly is that discussion going to slow down front paging documents? I feel now as if I should have front paged some fascinating abstract discussions that never got to the front page. Why do you use 'INDIAN' guys there?, you could have just told guys; can't you?. Is this a concerted effort to boost their XP? No and never, the intention is mainly to learn and share at our own speed and capacity Or are they even all the same person? no. we all love and addicted to perl that's it. that is the similarity. Possibly even upvoting each other's nodes? even I do upvote your note if I feel that it contributes something to the Perl society and to hail your efforts for this community in your busy schedule.(this is my principle behind up voting). You don't have any rights to complain or discuss my decision to upvote a node for such silly* games.* for us it is not the game, it is learning of life, I always appreciate & respect all the monks and this site, it is a sacred place for me, and I will continue think so, Intention is not to play a silly game but to learn and contribute If you dislike those guys and their nodes it is purely your opinion about them; I respect your views, but don't group monks like this and compose a node to blame as a whole. UPDATE we are colleagues(total count of us is irrelevant) we have been using Perl happily for our projects, we have been trained in Perl and using Perl for years and doing project together for years. More history about us is irrelevant here. We all have good attitude towards learning perl, sharing wisdom and usage of this site. I hope this clears all your doubts. I too noticed this group of nodes, and it raised flags for me too. I have in the past taken time to point out what I thought were abuses, but when I looked close at this, my impression was that there were a few fellows from Chennai enjoying PerlMonks, and who likely access the site at the same time of day (off hours for most over here). I did opt not to vote for the first reply to many of those nodes since they were front-paged by the first replier. No rule against doing it, but many dislike the practice because it gives the impression of XP gathering. I hope that you "Indians guys" continue to enjoy this site as much as those who found it before you and those who will come after. People here are very protective of this site, but as you can see it's worth protecting. Don't let this taint your monk experience. Heh, and if you are just one person, choose one user and continue down your monk path. Update: Reposting nodes from other sites is, of course, unacceptable. Those who did this should repent :-) but not be cast away. There have been several 'questionable' users who went on to contribute meaningful dialogue once they righted their ships. bassplayer	[reply]

So we should especially honor those that frontpage nodes to which they've replied because it's the right thing for those nodes, since they now know it may cost them XP in addition to garnering criticism. -- It's Time Single Payer Now It Just Makes $ense	[reply]

Maybe it should need multiple votes (for frontpaging) before it gets frontpaged? What nodes should/should not be FrontPaged?	[reply]

Pointing out that those guys are all in India or thereabouts is indeed relevant — but it's not about race or ethnicity, it's about timezones. If those three guys happen to be the most active of our members in that cluster of timezones, it is highly expected that they will, at least sometimes, reply to and approve/frontpage each other's nodes. I mean, if I frontpaged a post by Limbic~Region and he frontpaged a post of mine, would it raise any eyebrows? I think not. Between the mind which plans and the hands which build, there must be a mediator... and this mediator must be the heart.	[reply]
