Perhaps the object could be $_[ 0 ] and @_[1 .. n] could be direct aliases to $1 .. $n? The correspondance between $1 and $_[1] would make for nice symmetry. Examine what is said, not who speaks -- Silence betokens consent -- Love the truth but pardon error.
