fatmcgav has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

HI there,

I'm trying to install Crypt::SSLeay on a Windows XP SP3 32bit box with Strawberry Perl 5.10.0 installed.

However when it trys to run make test, it fails with teh following error:
Running make test D:\strawberry\perl\bin\perl.exe "-MExtUtils::Command::MM" "-e" "test_h +arness(0, 'blib\lib', 'blib\arch')" t/*.t t/00-basic......ok t/01-connect.... # Failed test 'Net::SSL->new' t/01-connect....1/8 # at t/01-connect.t line 25. # SSL negotiation failed: at t/01-connect.t line 11 # at t/01-connect.t line 11 # ; Unknown error at t/01-connect.t line 11 # ; Bad file descriptor at t/01-connect.t line 11 # ; Bad file descriptor at t/01-connect.t line 11 # Looks like you failed 1 test of 8. t/01-connect....     Is something already listening on port 443 on localhost? I've seen a number of failures with this in the past.

    The fact that 02-live passes without error (and that the build found your OpenSSL library) makes me think that you'll be fine doing a force install.

      I cant see anything listening on 443...

      Also, I had to specify the location of my OpenSSL files...

      Next daft question then, how do i force install it?

      Cheers
      Gavin

        Easy, just:

          dmake install

        ... if running from the command-line (in the build directory), or 'force install' in the CPAN shell.
