As is true of so many others, I can truly say that "Perl saved my life!"

Well, kind of.

You see, in my day job I help manage global LDAP directory services for a leading distribution company. For whatever reason there are almost no commercial tools to do the mundane, grunt work of LDAP administration. It turns out that the only way to keep your head above water is to write lots of text-parsing, LDAP protocol-aware code. Lots. Really. Because my entire professional life for the last 8 years has been reduced to a protocol (LDAP), it should be no surprise that my all-time favorite Perl module is Graham Barr's Net::LDAP.

Apart from work, I also try to maintain a semi-normal family life in the suburbs of Raleigh, NC. I am a recovering New Yorker -- but after a couple of years here I haven't once had the urge to lean on my horn while backed up in traffic.

In addition to over a decade of experience in Information Technology, I’ve had vendor training in a variety of software products and earned a few related computer systems certifications. My B.A. was in the Humanities and my M.A. in History (that's a whole different story). I also hold a J.D. degree (even a more difficult thing to explain).

I maintain a technical blog of sorts at eldapo.lembobrothers.com, where I hold forth on things LDAP with a good amount of Perl code openly and notoriously shared for the benefit of all.
