Seemingly random reply counts?

by moritz (Cardinal)
on Sep 22, 2008 at 10:51 UTC ( [id://712987]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I just looked at Nodes To Consider, and it told me that Use of uninitialized value in string eq had 9 replies. Now I can only find 6 replies there, and although my counting skills aren't usually very good, I can occasionally tell the difference between 6 and 9.

I also think I saw similar differences in SoPW, and the reply count is never lower than the visible replies, always the same or higher.

Is this a known bug, and going to be fixed? Or is it an unexpectedly large number of reaped nodes that causes this difference?

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

    Q: What's the difference between 6 and 9 ?
    A: 180 degrees.

    Cheers,
    Rob
Uhm, on my clock that's only 90 degrees... ;-)

Hmmmm ... probably depends upon whether we're talking Celsius or Fahrenheit :-)

        A 6 dressed up as a 9?

        You're only wasting my time...

Or 3141 fathom-furlongs; it depends on the meaning of '6' and '9' :P

... the reply count is never lower than the visible replies, always the same or higher.

... unless you're viewing as an anonymonk? I was viewing the front page and the thread about Net::FTPServer showed 3 replies (at that time there were 7).

    Weird.
