Practical Text Mining with Perl: Good/Bad?

PetaMem has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear Monks,

Amazon informed me today about a new book I might be interested in: Practical Text Mining with Perl from Roger Bilisoly. This book shall be available August 18th.

Now I haven't been able to find any sample chapter or at least some code examples from the book and am hesitant to buy it. The table of contents looks 70% promising, but paying 60+ eurobucks just to see some regex-kludges is a big fear-factor here. There is a bilisoly here at the monastery, but seems to be just lurking.

Has anyone here seen this manuscript? If so - what's it like? Is it worth "it" (money, time, ...)?

Summary Practical Text Mining with Perl is a book for beginners in Perl, beginners in GNU-R and beginners in Text-Mining. Some details From the foreword of the book (page xvii): "This book introduces the basic ideas of text mining, which is a group of techniques that extracts useful information from one or more texts. This is a practical book, one that focuses on applications and examples. Although some statistics and mathematics is required, it is kept to a minimum, and what is used is explained." Throughout the book Perl is chained to GNU-R: Perl is used to extract data. R does the math (even if it could be done easily in Perl) and plots the graphics. There are a lot of code examples throughout the book. Everthing is explained in layman's terms. `use strict;` and `use warnings;` are never used. The book covers the following CPAN-Modules: Acme::Umlautify Lingua::EN::Numbers Lingua::EN:Sentence Lingua::EN::Tagger Lingua::StopWords LWP Math::Trig Statistics::R Hope this helps.
