Positioning of Node Creation Tips

I know that this one has been done almost to death, so my apologies in advance for that.

But it just dawned on me (and this is somewhat embarrasing) that even though the node creation tips/instructions are there in my face with every single node that I've ever created - I can't remember that I've ever actually read them. Well, maybe once or twice - a long time ago.

Now, I know that I'm not alone in this regard. And I'm wondering if part of the problem is their positioning on the preview page? That is, I think there is probably a tendency to scroll down until you get to the Preview/Submit buttons, and then look no further.

So.... how about if we were to move the tips/instructions higher up the page - I'd suggest between the two text input widgets. Or even between the node input widget and the Preview/Submit buttons. This would at least force people to scroll past this stuff to get to the submission buttons.

We all know the old adage about leading a horse to water, etc... but if you force the horse to step over the water - he's probably more likely to notice it, eh?

Just a thought....
Darren :)

That water jump becomes tiring for the regular steeple chasers. There could be a preference "Move preview post tips to bottom". By the time you've figured it out you have read seen the tips a few times.

The item that says "Posts may use any of ..." should be prefixed by a stronger

    • Posts should put <p> tags around each paragraph and <code> tags around code and data.

Maybe a highly condensed version could be put in between the text widget and the preview/create widgets and then have more details below the buttons like we currently do. Though even for this I think I would like to see an option to turn it off. Or worst case turn it on for low level monks (say less than 5th level).
