Has anyone written a perl <=> Yahoo calendar script/app?

jfroebe has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi all,

I've looked on Yahoo, Google, CPAN and on Perlmonks to no avail. I'm wanting to access my Yahoo Calendar from Perl so I can manipulate it, sync it, etc. So far, I've only found commercial or shareware applications that can access the calendar. Has anyone done this or know of a non-perl sdk I can look at to write a perl sdk to do it?

Sorry, no code in this post.

The Y! Calendar is one of the few Y! properties that is not (yet) accessible through an API so either you'll have to reverse engineer the Intellisync program, or go for scraping *shrug*.

If you do succeed, please do post your work at CPAN (or here), for I believe a lot of people would love to manipulate their Y! calendar through Perl. Maybe then I'll switch back (currently using 30boxes.com, which IMHO is a lot nicer).

All code is usually tested, but rarely trusted.

Thanks :) That's what I've been finding out as well.

I talked to the Y-Cal folks late yesterday afternoon (turns out they are just down the hall from me). The word is: there is an API for Y-Calendar and it will be released this year, but they are not at liberty to say when. (The Project Manager is still sorting out the features-lists, I gather.) For the time-being take a look at the Y-Upcoming calendar and see if you can craft some code using that API. Once I get the official announcement, I'll put something up in the Perl section of the Yahoo Developer Network.
