in thread Do Not Feed the Trolls!!!

If as I now suspect, certain trolls have had their accounts withdrawn, how are we to tell the difference between an Anonymous Monk and a troll in disguise, at least before we could make our own minds up if it was a genuine post or one to provoke a response.

Perhaps its time to give some thought to only allowing posts from recognised accounts at least for a time.

No, no account was withdrawn. As others suggested, the account was abandoned (for now) due to wide-spread ignoring of it via CSS.

at least before we could make our own minds up if it was a genuine post or one to provoke a response

If you have lost that ability, then I am truly sad for you.

Unfortunately being a mere mortal does not give me that god like perceptiveness.

To be clear, it doesn't take any privileges granted only to gods, one needs only to read what is written and make one's own mind up whether it was trollish. I didn't, in fact, use any godsly powers to conclude who authored the nodes (nor in concluding that they were trollish) and clearly neither did perrin (in Re^4: Why does exists cause autovivication?).

For future reference, if something causes one to think "What absolute rubbish, how on earth can you draw that conclusion?", then that is often a big clue.
