More Shortcuts? Or...

I find myself wanting to easily reference fellow monks' book reviews, or at least the book itself.

I know there's the isbn shorcut as well as a previous thread about this. Being able to reference node id's is one thing, but I've never been able to remember numbers very well. I generally want to do:

Granted, I'm a new monk. Right now I'm clicking around and copy-pasting book reviews and other node ids.

Is anyone out there doing something more clever? Is it now possible to define our own shortcuts, say in free nodelets? Or as belg4mit mentioned:

I'm pretty sure this has been hashed out before... In any event it's feature creep, and something that could be implemented client side (which I'm surprised tye hadn't chimed in about ;-).

If you are a FireFox user, holli's most excellent Monk Links - Copy Perlmonks-links to the clipboard in on-site-format might be very useful. HTH, planetscape	[reply]

It sounds like your talking mainly about titles; if so, you can make easy links to titles (or rather, title searches) by simply writing `[Higher Order Perl]` (⇒ Higher Order Perl). It doesn't let you narrow by section, but it may be sufficient, if you can remember the title accurately enough. Beyond that, you could try using google: `[lucky://site:perlmonks.org bookreview best-practices\|Perl Best Practices]` ⇒ Perl Best Practices A word spoken in Mind will reach its own level, in the objective world, by its own weight	[reply] [d/l]

I like your idea about titles; how about performing a substring search on titles if no exact match is found such that a `[title://unique-term]` could help us reduce copy-paste and typing. -- Ian Tegebo	[reply] [d/l]
