You have to start `script` either interactively (which opens a virtual terminal, or something), and then start your command. Or you use the alternate syntax `script -c COMMAND log_file`, which means you'll have a mess with quoting, unless you use the LIST form of system: `my $command = qq{perl -MCPAN -e 'install q/Bundle::Snapshot_2007_07_23 +_00/'}; system('script', '-c', $command, '/cygdrive/c/cpan.log');` [download] (not tested)	[reply] [d/l] [select]

Misha: I'm not trying to be snide here, but you would have known how to use script had you read the man page. I'm surprised (and somewhat appalled) that you'd run a command that someone suggested to you without at least scanning the documentation on the command. Otherwise someone might accidentally suggest you do something as destructive (but not as obvious) as: `ls -al \| mkfs /dev/hda1 \| grep 'pwned!'` [download] ...roboticus	[reply] [d/l]
