Perlbuzz.com is launched, a new Perl news site

Skud and I have launched http://perlbuzz.com, a new Perl news site with three different blogs to deliver what's going on in the world of Perl.

A lot of people have been asking us, "Why do we need another Perl blog?" We believe that there's room for as many Perl blogs, journals, and news sites as people want to set up. Each has its own flavour and will appeal to different groups of people, and that's just fine. Perl Buzz's unique selling point is that we're bringing a shiny, happy view of the Perl world to the masses. Some other sites focus on communicating within the existing Perl community. We'll do that, too, but we also hope to reach out to those who aren't yet part of the tribe, and show them just how cool Perl is.

So, let's take a look at what Perl Buzz has to offer.

You can subscribe to any or all of the feeds via RSS; see the links in our sidebar.

If you'd like to contribute to Perl Buzz, please email us at editors@perlbuzz.com, or see our How to contribute page.

xoxo,
Andy

Congratulations nice site and well displayed.
    ++ to you both.
Nice to see so much information and links in one place.
    Thanks for that.

I like the idea and you can count on me as a regular reader if the speed is improved.

Currently it is painstakingly slow, on an otherwise rather quick internet access it takes literally minutes to display the pages.

I have had no trouble loading the pages or moving between links.
Perhaps its your connection. I usually find my connection is slow around 7.00pm GMT but the site still loaded quickly tonight.

Like other grumpy old Perl coders, my first reaction indeed is "Why do we need another Perl blog?". Glad you answered it sufficiently!

I think the idea is very good. In a lot of ways Perl houses a fairly isolated and introverted community. A cheery and open site like Perl Buzz could be very worthwhile. The blog is simple, appears friendly to the eye, and well-designed. As long as you stick with it and keep it active it should build a following.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. We very specifically are not aiming this at the isolated & introverted community.

      xoxo,
      Andy

Good work. The layout is easily read, which I appreciate, and it loads quickly for me.
