in reply to My computer's last downtime was due to...

... nobody was using it anymore

That was actually true. Not *my* computer, but *a* computer in the computer room. We were making an inventory of what process was using what computer, and if it needed moving to the brand new machine that had been installed, and in this process, nobody was able to tell why one of the machines was still powered on. Last login showed 4 month ago.

Needless to say noone actually misses this rotten AIX 4.3 box

You didn't start it smoke testing perl?

To be honoust, that was the only thing it still was doing, see here

But, as I hate AIX, and have no tuits or intention to fix any failure that would come out of its smoke results, and noone else still (on p5p) running this archaic OS, I saw no good reason to leave this machine consuming power just to smoke blead.

I still smoke HP-UX 10.20, only powered it down for my holiday, because we need the phisical space for some infrastructural reorganizations, but other than for that AIX box, I still do something useful with this box

Sadly, these seems to finally be down. :(
