I think the biggest problem with p6 is that the things that have been implemented aren't being used by anyone outside of p6 development.
To take a simple example, why after 6-7 years are there no Perl 6 modules on CPAN? Even though the current compilers are limited it would help a lot to be able to upload a tarball with some P6 code + POD and have it smoke tested on Pugs/v6.pm/perl6.pir/mp6 etc. I tried to do something to that end in the Pugs repository and found that the only Makefile.PL build systems depended on Pugs itself being present (correct me if I'm wrong) so I ended up writing my own Makefile to build blib/run make test. How do I write little toy modules and put them on CPAN now? Has anyone been working on something to that end other than the 6PAN project which seemed to aim to rewrite the CPAN mirroring system.
