Are you aware that the first parameter to split is a regex? With everything, good and bad, that implies. Examine what is said, not who speaks -- Silence betokens consent -- Love the truth but pardon error. "Science is about questioning the status quo. Questioning authority". My understanding of split is for the whole thing about it, including of course that pattern being the first argument. Likewise, my statement referred to the comparison between regex- and split-based solution despite that a pattern being used in split. Open source softwares? Share and enjoy.
