"Where is information on how to use this site? "
The PerlMonks FAQ FAQ would by a good starting point I guess. Also check out Message Settings regards being informed of replies to your posts.
Hope this helps.

Probably.
Perhaps the default CSS for that link should make it bigger, bolder, and blinking ... once users are comfortable with the site, turning it off with custom CSS would be simple enough.

~%snort%~!
On the one hand, that's a great idea! Setup one element of the displayed page that is totally annoying, but make it a link to the site help pages that, if read and understood (something everyone should do), would lead them to the checkbox in their user settings that would turn off the annoying element, reinforcing that they can customize their "site experience!"
On the other hand, I wonder why more software/sites don't set initial defaults to highly annoying settings that users have to work through and customize before enjoying the wonderful ... oh, never mind ... I "get it"

I am getting email when OTHER questions get answered, but not mine.
I'm assuming you mean messages into your inbox here, not real email. What do you mean about "getting email when OTHER questions get answered"? I don't have any idea what you are talking about. Can you give an example?
