Which bit is causing you a problem? Examining the filesystem? Storing data in a database? Scheduling the comparisons?

I have put together a program that will scan the filesystem and store the paths to the files in a database. I am not sure about how to do the comparison. I'd like to be able to compare the scans and see where files are added.
