Book update: "Exploring Programming Language Architecture in Perl"

on Oct 22, 2006 at 20:11 UTC ( [id://579895]=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Is it ok to post updates here? I've got no-one else to talk to :-)
Anyway assuming it's ok I've just finished the first draft of chapter 13 on continuations over at at billhails.net.
It's still quite rough, and it needs rearranging (move the "what's so cool about continuations" bits up to the front so the reader feels more motivated to read the rest,) and subtitling.
I'm slightly worried that I'm leaning rather too heavily on one source, the venerable and wonderful "Essentials of Programming Languages", but hopefully by the time I've finished I'll be able to present a more balanced account.
Any and all constructive criticism is welcome: anything I've missed, any points that are too laboured etc.
And enjoy of course.
PS There are now PostScript and PDF versions linked from the cover page.
Update: changed title as per recommendation

It would help at least me if you included your book title in the title of your updates, even if it's just a working title.
Sorry, yeah, I was thinking I was addressing "my readership" ;-) rather than "the public", since I've posted here before on the same topic. I'll make sure I include the title in any subsequent updates.

Thank you very much for the PDF, Bill! and kudos for this nice work.
No problem. The PDF is in a pretty sorry state though, There are too many listings littering the main body, I'll have to push them to an appendix or to the end of each chapter, but I'm more focussed on the HTML right now.
