Wired writer Kevin Poulsen put together about 1,000 lines of Perl code that match data from the National Sex Offender Registry to MySpace user profiles, looking for perpetrators arrogant or witless enough to sign up for a MySpace account under their real names.

1,000 lines of perl code to scrape myspace web profiles? Perhaps Mr. Poulsen should have dropped by here and learned about some space saving steps. WWW::Mechanize > LWP > use IO::Socket;. ;-)

Kevin Poulsen has an interesting background in his own right - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Poulsen for details.
