Why do so many recent obfuscations use crypt?

I don't think obfuscation has a lot to do with encryption (except, naturally, if you write cyphering program in obfuscated Perl...) And well, it's probably more interesting to use more of your brain time than your CPU time...

    Hmm, I'd never seen it done before, and thought I was being quite original :( Do you have links to any others done using crypt - I'd very much like to see them.

    Oh well, perhaps the japh I just wrote for my .sig will amuse you more (although it's admittedly a cheap trick):
