(OT) perl mailing list host suggestions

rvosa has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear monks,

I am looking for a place that will host a mailing list for Bio-Phylo, preferably using something like majordomo or mailman. Is there an entity in the perl community (e.g. TPF) that can facilitate these sorts of thing? I know there's a big list of mailing lists at lists.perl.org, but does that mean there's some way to apply for something@perl.org?

Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what the mechanism is these days but you probably want to start at Perl NOC if you want to see about getting a mailling list hosted on perl.org, an alternative of course would be to see if your local perlmongers are in a position to host the list for you.

BTW you don't really want "something like majordomo or mailman" you want Siesta :-)

You might consider setting up a SourceForge project. In addition to Mailman mailing-lists you'll get Subversion (or CVS), web-hosting, bug-tracking, web-forums and mirrored file distribution. Yes, it can be slow, but I've found it to be very easy to use and a good place to host CPAN module development.
