Feels like I'm always a beginner - I'm a programmer that turned into an academic that turned back into a programmer that turned into something else. Don't spend near enough time doing or thinking about programming as I'd like. I used to focus primarily on databases, and the code that makes databases fun and useful to people, largely on the web. Now I do bigger picture stuff, and play with perl, instead of work with it.
