Stuffit/SIT file access

steves has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Is anyone aware of any Perl modules to access Stuffit/SIT file archives? I searched CPAN and didn't find anything.

    I have a feeling it's a proprietary format. It took me forever to find a Windows app capable of reading .SIT files, and I think it only works for 30 days.
