Sorry, why are we answering C++ questions?
Because sometimes, it costs nothing to answer a simple question.

But if it encourages more off topic questions, wouldn't you consider that a cost?

Sure. Just as I would, in theory, consider helping someone who has fallen down not free. Idt isn't free; I would have to expend energy in such an endeavor. However, in my mind, the more we promote that the image that perlmonks is for perl only, the less relevant and friendly we will become. Moreover, moderation exists for a reason. If you feel that strongly on the subject, vote to delete. If enough others agree with you, it will be so.

That is a cost, but it is a cost determined by each monk himself/herself. If I would like to spend my time help this guy with c++ question for free, why is it your business?

Yes, this is a Perl site, but people can occasionally ask c++ question especially if he/she is a member of this site, as I believe that he will ask more questions about perl than anything else.

No it isn't. If perlmonks gets damaged we all suffer.

Because you're making nodes. If you want to talk, /msg him .

Not unless its about perl. There is no c++ only section.
