Screw IO::Zlib. Use PerlIO::gzip instead. And as is to be expected from good advice, it works... And since PerlIO::gzip does not depend on gzip, it works for me. But I am still confused about where the problem was :( Thanks a lot Best regards -lem, but some call me fokat
