Help build the monk user group tree

by Arunbear (Prior)
on Sep 27, 2005 at 21:03 UTC ( [id://495558]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Below is the start of my attempt to reconstruct the tree of Perlmonks user groups. Please help me to complete it.

If you are a god and remember which monk you added to which group, please enumerate. Otherwise if you are a group member and remember which god added you to the group, please provide that info (group and god) and I will update the tree.

Thanks :-)

The tree

You weren't very clear, but I'm assuming you're trying to find out who added which users to which PM groups? I think tye added me to editors and pmdev, theorbtwo (or his alter ego) added me to SiteDocClan, I can't remember about Q&AEditors, but maybe its in my message inbox somewheres..

Why would you want to construct it by hand?

MJD says "you can't just make shit up and expect the computer to know what you mean, retardo!"
    I run a Win32 PPM repository for perl 5.6.x and 5.8.x -- I take requests (README).
** The third rule of perl club is a statement of fact: pod is sexy.

Because the information about who added whom to which PM user group is not recorded anywhere (sadly).

      C.

Indeed. All he needs is in the Cabal Matrix.

      holli, /regexed monk/

He wrote the cabal matrix so I'd guess that he knows what it does.

Without trolling through the pmdev wiki's going back I couldn't really tell you. I don't even remember if it was tye or vroom who added me to pmdev, (probably tye). I think I added ysth to pmdev (and maybe SiteDocClan) back in the day, and I've added a bunch of other users over the time, about the only other ones that I remember were adding castaway (i think) and corion (pretty sure) to Power Users.

Also, i recall that chromatic added xdg to pmdev.

I think you should get copies of the various wiki's and review them for usernames and announcements. Generally new users are announced by someone, which means you might be able to write some code to help you out, for instance blocks in the wiki that contain the first reference of a users name are likely to have been the announcement of their addition to the group. Most likely the author of the block will be the person who added them. Something like this is pretty useful as there are a fair number of wikis going back quite some time, and each one is 65k, so scanning it by eye is going to be annoying (i tried, and decided it wasnt worth it :-).

Actually, if you could get a copy of all the change records for the wikis your job would be a lot easier. You'd know exactly who added the new users name.
