All true in a way ... but ...

Somehow the way you wrote it - is really strange to me. Seriously!

Just look around you. I'll give just one sample, but I imagine anybody can think of many more : How many Linux distributions/flavours are there? They are all (mostly) free, working great - so one could ask, why yet another Linux distro ... But every now and then new distro shows up ...

I don't know why it's done that way - do you? (if those were commercial products it would be an easy guess of course)

Although I know my own reasons for starting such a site ...

I do know that a lot of people wonder why there are so many Linux distributions and also wonder which one they should use. Furthermore, I know that most of the linux people I know only use a handful of them. I always figured there were so many distributions because the people who create them want to get money for supporting them. They are commercial products in that they are instruments of commerce. I don't really care about Linux because I don't use it.

The Linux situation is confusing to those who don't live it. Is that the same thing that you want to recreate?

You say that you know your own reasons for starting such a site? How about dropping the coy act and telling the rest of us? The way you say it makes it sound like you have your own interests ahead of those of your intended audience.

What would be the advantage of posting your beginners articles on a new site rather than publishing it on the sites that already exist?
