Well, I've never stayed in any of the hotels nearby, since I happen to live in this town... {grin}

Portland.citysearch.com (using our favorite mod_perl site) suggests (in order of distance):

  • Inn at the Convention Center (if I remember, this is hotel from the mid 60s... kinda dumpy)
  • Shilo Inn (rooms have free high-speed net access, and this is a hometown chain... I'd recommend this if the price is fair)
  • Red Lion Inn
  • La Quinta (fairly modern)
  • Marriott Courtyard (standard Marriott style)
  • Radisson

Just use your favorite means to search near "777 NE M L King Blvd, Portland, OR".

    Hmmm, the ora.com does say that the Doubletree is the "Event Headquarters Hotel." Not sure how the conference rate there compares to the others nearby.
      If you don't mind an 8-block walk, a really good price-to-value ratio looks to be the Jupiter Hotel, still on the same side of the river. Complimentary wifi included, for about $90 a night. They describe themselves as:
      A new experience in Urban Hospitality, the Jupiter hotel offers 80 modern boutique guest rooms featuring Blu-Dot custom furnishings, black board doors, convenient location to the downtown entertainment district and convention center,complimentary high speed wireless internet service throughout the entire hotel and more. Our on site restaurant, The Doug Fir, is a post-modern classic, featuring eclectic Northwest Cuisine, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night dining from 7am til 4am daily. Awesome cocktails, an incredible lounge and club, the Doug Fir is the destination for global nomads.
