you don't need to be a bio- or whatsoever-informatics specialist, if you like to learn Perl. would you possibly be a little more concrete?

language is a virus from outer space.

You completely misunderstood me. I'm not trying to learn Bio-Informatics using Perl myself. (At least not until I get a job as a bio-informatician.) I just want someone to write and maintain a section about it in the Perl-Begin site because it is a common use for Perl.

Well, it's just that there's a uses section in Perl-Begin for people who are new to Perl and have to learn it in order to satisfy a certain purpose.

Some people were exposed to Perl (and many times programming in general) after they became bio-informaticians. This is the case with beth from Freenode.
