Well, for Perl 5, I think the ->, @{}, [...] and {...} are very significant syntax changes.
There's also the my $var declaration, $Package::name syntax, autoquoting name => 'value' and tie(). I think the fact that we forgot the drastic impact those changes brought, is a good indication of what Perl 6 will become in the Hey, what was the big deal? phase.
