May I recommend Class::DBI? It's object oriented, fast, relatively easy to use, and great for production purposes.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but how will adding another layer of abstraction to the equation help his speed problems? He's as close to the database as he can be without dropping into XS and he's having the problems. CDBI is great. CDBI also slows apps down a great deal, usually, imho.	[reply]
