If you setup the white lights around your room with multiple strings and dimmers you get very nice lighting.
For the xmas tree, I prefer setting up a Jacob's ladder for the tree topper.

    "Christmas Tree Flambé," anyone? That would be one way to add some light to the room..

    Side note: You'll never believe where I looked up the accented e ASCII code -- my copy of "Epson GW-Basic User's guide, (c)1981" It was dangerous work -- I nearly inadvertantly remembered how painful it was. Like -- the gotos, the terror! No, no, nononono, not the gotos! I'll be nice, really -- you don't need that white jacket.. *whimper*
