Oops, you are right. I was doubly shortsighted here. A case of Windows-blindness? I fixed this by simply removing the -initaldir option from getOpenFile() call. On my machine now the File Open dialog seems to default to the directory most recently used by the script. Does the File Open dialog now do something reasonable on *NIX machines?
