An Apology

by mwp (Hermit)
on Dec 02, 2000 at 16:05 UTC ( [id://44563]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I would just like to make a short apology to all the monks here regarding the recent events. I know that most everyone has "moved on" but I still see a hint of ire here and there amongst the daily postings. I feel now that it was wrong of me to voice a personal grudge in public, regardless of what happened. I kept quiet for so long that it just kind of burst out and I was too busy furthering my arguments and defending my statements to realize that it was out of control.

I never, at any time, "seek and destroyed" nodes by any author. That is poor behaviour which I strongly discourage. Instead, I engaged in verbal argumentation and literally dumped fuel upon the fire. I was wrong to do so.

So apologies to all. I hope that in time I can regain the face that I have lost.

Alakaboo

PS - If you have no idea what I'm talking about, consider yourself fortunate. =)

    Alakaboo,

I wouldn't sweat it too heavily. PM seems to be a reasonably forgiving place, provided you're willing to accept and move on.

That's the real test; the ability to move on. As we've recently seen, not everyone can do that.

Here's the obligatory cliche: there are two rules: 1) Don't sweat the small stuff and 2) It's all small stuff.

I'd like to add my own apology. My post "Consider Your Audience" was very popular, but unfortunately added fuel to the fire. Personally, I didn't want to see princepawn/metaperl leave and that post was not intended to bring that about. I regret adding to the discord and will definitely be rethinking any such posts in the future.

    Cheers,
    Ovid

      Ovid,

I've been pondering (as in P&B pondering, I'm sure) how best to respond and I keep coming back to the same place. You made sense.

If TMFKAP**2 chooses to leave because he feels he's been unfairly attacked, that's his own prerogative. You posted your position, which is just, right, and appropriate.

Our former collegue has made his choice; please do not allow his (imho) selfish motives undermine your desire to assist and/or participate in the community.

PM will survive said colleague's presence, regardless of the avatar he chooses. I personally believe that your post was good and apropos.

      --f

      P.S. Keep the faith
