I feel an almost irresistible urge to overload the x operator to the seq_prod2 function: 

use overload x => 'seq_prod2';

$s1 = seq(1,2,3);
$s2 = seq(qw(a b c));
$p  = $s1 x $s2; # same as seq_prod2($s1, $s2);
