LDAP and Everything

sunadmn has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Good day all I am working on a fresh Everything install and want to build my user base from LDAP, also I would like to be able to keep the SQL and LDAP in sync with one another or have the users auth from the LDAP versus the SQL. With all that said I am coming to you all for some advice since our great temple PerlMonks is built on this engine and I am sure many of you have delt with it in some fashion or another.

1) Is this even an option?
2) What would be the best method to move forward?
3) Why is this so?

Any help guidance or pointers would be great and I will forever be in the debt of those who answer my call.

The idea of an Everything::Auth::LDAP module has come up on the everydevel-opers list a couple of times. Jay Bonci, Luke Kanies, and Brian Aker are all interested, though I don't know if any of them have a releasable version. You'll probably have better luck asking there.

Thanks chromatic I have been speaking with some folks on this one and was thinking about giving it a shot myself although I have to admit the engine is way out of my coding spectrum and I would like to add that once dealing with the system I have been amazed with it WOW!
