Well, Halloween is just about here and I was wondering about cool ways to have/make a Perl-related costume. What are your ideas? I was thinking of covering myself in street maps and being the map() operator.

Cheers,
KM

What do you do?
I make maps.
Make any money?
No, just maps.

Curse this voting system, I cannot give this genius all my beans :). Captain Perl stands astride my PC like the Jolly Green Giant, er except he's, that is to say.....

Dress up as a firecracker and wear a long blonde wig. Then when people ask you what you are tell them you're a she-bang :)

    ivory

You need to do that in a group so you can go as the whole shebang line.

What would an Obfuscated Perl costume look like? My first thought was affixing slips of paper with "$"s, "@"s and "%"s randomly on one's clothes, but that probably wouldn't compile. Maybe something like the code on the ThinkGeek Perl shirt...?

Another thought: create two bracket shapes out of cardboard tubing, affix them to your sides, wear a shirt with a "=" on it, and go as the spaceship operator.

What about getting a fellow perl coder and going as a camel?

    Just wear a sign:

    s/KM/Perl Monk Costume/

    =Blue
...you might be eaten by a grue...

Or, a sign that says "Ad-Meister", and be Robo the ad guy.

      Cheers,
      KM

I think I'm going to go as an Anonymous Monk. I don't think many people will get it though.

Well, that wouldn't be a cult, since it is a valid religion. Maybe Sun Myung Moon, Koresh or Matt Wright would be more appropriate.

      Cheers,

How about carrying the camel book, putting false blood round your mouth, horns on your head and a scythe in your other hand.
Explain that you're a reaper daemon, and you kill children.

It seems like according to this node, you can put a sticker on your head saying "Idiot" and you will be dressed as Guildenstern ;-)

Heh! Although the way my coding has been going lately, I 'm beginning to feel a kinship with Ministry's "Every Day is Halloween"

      Guildenstern
      Negaterd character class uber alles!

Wear a robe with ton's of $'s, %'s, and @'s randomly strewn across it. After all isn't Perl just funny symbols? (I like them, but sometimes when I come out with something like (0..$#$path) I realize why they are a mental barrier for many.)

Or get a swiss-army knife costume and glue a chainsaw on.

Hmmm...a few JAPHs would be fun. For instance I have thought for a bit that it would be fun to have a picture of a gun with JAPH at the firing range placed on top of it on a t-shirt.

Tell us what you come up with!
