Nursing is the worst at this. My wife is an R.N, B.S, M.A., F.N.P. (I think I'm forgetting some) and it's customary to append all the letters. This is partially a reaction to nursing being downvalued in relation to "medicine" (which according to the official line is only physicians).

Maybe we should all start putting P.M.X.P.Z. after our names where "Z" is I=Initiate ... S=Saint.

Seriously though, participation in Perlmonks or Perlmongers, or CPAN or other Perl community related organizations does IMHO belong on a resume. Even reviewers who don't have the foggiest what any of those are, can still get a sense of the extent of your participation.

The Perl Advocacy page is a little sparse, if this is an issue that concerns you, maybe you could contribute to it.

How would you tell Acolyte from Abbot or Scribe from Saint?
    a vs. A and s vs. S?
