I think that sort of thing belongs in a monk's homenode.

shonorio, to be honest I really don't think a new section should be created. You'll typically find that "how did Perl become part of your life" type questions are posted in meditations

Monastery sections are chartered with broad latitude. Seekers of Perl Wisdom is for questions. Meditations is for thoughtful discussion, Perlish insight, and teaching moments. Categorized Questions and Answers is for FAQ-like posts, and Tutorials is for ...tutorials.

Monastery sections aren't added willy-nilly whenever a new narrowly defined topic emerges. We wouldn't devote a section to open or sorting, for example. Sections must be kept broad.

Dedicating an entire section to a discussion that most people are only mildly passionate about, and for which I can't imagine anyone posting more than once, is not what Monastery sections are for. It is, at best, a discussion thread that may recur occasionally. And the fact that it's a thoughtful discussion about Perl, such a thread would belong in Meditations.

Someone might do a poll with this idea, don't you think?

I bet this could be an interesting question, but should be posted in the Meditations. Will you post it there?

Perlmonks is one of the best reason to give why Perl became part of my life.

I think Perl is a great tool, and I appreciate what it has done for my web development, and the control it has given me, but I don't consider it "part of my life." No more than I have ever considered Photoshop (the coolest program I get to use) part of my life. Or my Mac, or a great pale ale, or the Princess Bride. All things that I'm glad to have access to, but I have a hard time considering them "part of my life." I put my wife, my children, my faith in that category. All that to say, like other responders ahead of me, if it is really that important to you, and you are welcome to feel that way, we have Mediations, and other appropriate places here at the Monastery for such meanderings.

That's odd... You can do something for a third of the day, five days per week, and not think that it is a part of your life?
