Actually I must admit there is not much you can do about it. We are three programmers at our company. I was the only one programming a project in Perl. And I made a very functional website in Perl. I offered them to start the next project in Perl. There were two main reasons why we have chosen Java: first, the other two programmers didn't want to learn Perl, second, the manager thought it'll be hard to find a Perl programmer if we leave the company some time in the future. We have to admit that Java is mainstream and very popular - it is gonna be very difficult to fight against mainstream and common sense opinion.
