XSLT transformation using libxml

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

hi all,

Actually, i want to transform my XML document using XSL stylesheet. Now, i am able to do it using Xalan parser from Apache. I wanted to execute this transformation using perl scripts.

Please tell me how to install libxml in my system with the help of some installers, so that i can make use of LibXML and libXSL modules.

You can actually still use Xalan from Perl if you want, XML::Xalan, you just need to install it... XML::LibXSLT is an excellent choice. Firts off you will need to install the back-end libraries from XML Soft, you will need libxml2 and libxslt. You can compile from source, or download a binary - you don't say what platform you are using, so that may or may not be easy. Once you have the two libraries installed and working okay, you can build an link the Perl modules. You will need XML::LibXML first, then you can install XML::LibXSLT. I think you may also need XML::Namespacesupport, XML::LibXML::Common and XML::SAX - but it's all explained in the docs. If you are on a decent platform, you should be able to pull all the bits in as binaries, directly as debs, rpms, or what ever your vendor provides. If you are on ActiveState/Windows, then there are PPMs available too.
