( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I'm currently writing a (rather small) text adventure that plays out in the monastery.

I don't want to give you the story yet, it's gonna be a surprise (a good one, i hope).

The adventure is a bit tongue-in-cheek and i still need a few famous real or fictional Monastery characters to liven up the scenes. One real person is already included in a major role (no, i wont tell who). Also, i got the reaper and the vote fairy.

So, any contenders? What i'm searching for:

  • Person (virtual or real) must be well known throughout the userbase. That's what immediately qualified the vote fairy.
  • Real persons must have shown a certain amount sense of humor and tolerance...
  • Also qualified may be some special trolls, as long as they have a long, well known history with the monastery.

For any such person i'd like a short reasoning or link to one or more articles that made them (in)famous ;-)

Also welcome are links to any famous and "special" posts here in PerlMonks. I'm on the lookout for more insider jokes and such.

Update 2012-07-02: This will take a little longer than planned. During a slight disagreement with my bicycle (which i lost), i broke my left forearm near the elbow. I might be able to release a small preview of the adventure in a couple of weeks, but i can't promise anything, except that the project is still alive.

"You have reached the Monastery. All our helpdesk monks are busy at the moment. Please press "1" to instantly donate 10 currency units for a good cause or press "2" to hang up. Or you can dial "12" to get connected directly to second level support."

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
