( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

On a whim I decided to put together all of the threads that I could find on usernames used here on PerlMonks. There was a little duplication of topics, so why not just have a clearinghouse of all threads about the subject?

The first place to go to read about usernames is Create A New User. There are two threads about username length limits: Username limits and Username length limit. There are two threads about white space in usernames: Erraticate usernames with white space and Forged usernames!. The are two threads about changing usernames Username Changing and Can I change my username?. Curiosity on some new usernames is a thread about spam usernames, and Forged usernames! is also about forged usernames. Name Space is about what users' usernames mean and from wence they came with the My username is... poll to also let us know why a username was chosen.

If I missed a thread or three, please let me know. I was also on the fence about the spelling of username, is it one word or two? :)

Have a nice day!

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
