In addition to what the others have recommended, I'd say don't forget to develop your general problem solving heuristics and debugging skills (a large part of programming is debugging...). In my experience, people not being helpless when something refuses to work is at least as important in the real world as knowing module X or software paradigm Y...

<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
