I have looked on Google and CPAN and I don't have any answers...I want to write PERL code to do this, not use a service.
I can do it easily with SENDMAIL but what I've seen looks like Net::SMTP is a good choice...the CPAN notes say do a
new{'mailhost'}
and I don't know what 'mailhost' means for VERIZON.
I am not asking for a code-writing service...I am a programmer but can't find this particular answer and to be frank, the hypothesis that I'm looking for someone to write code for me is insulting. (but thanks anyway for your helpful answer)

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
