The recent slowdown has led to a number of layoffs.
I was laid off a few months ago, and was fortunately able
to latch on somewhere else, in an overall much better
setting. I doubt if this is typical.
Would those monks who, like me, have been laid off
like to share how things worked for you? Was it a good
experience for you? How long did it take before
you were working? What advice would you share for
monks who get laid off now?

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
